#Prospects for the world titanium production were discussed at the conference “Ti-2017 in the CIS”

Experts from Russia, China, Japan, Poland, Belgium, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Italy, Germany and other countries discussed prospects for the development of the titanium industry at the XV International Conference "Ti-2017 in the CIS", which took place in Ekaterinburg and Verkhnaya Salda in March, 26-28. The conference coincided with the 60th anniversary of the first ingot at VSMPO-AVISMA, as well as with the 25th anniversary of the Association Titan which has more than 60 leading titanium producers and industry research institutes from around the world among its members.

The conference was organized by the management company of the Titanium cluster of Sverdlovsk region, the Interstate Association Titan and the Russian titanium corporation VSMPO-AVISMA, which specialists several times acted as speakers at the plenary sessions of the conference.

The employees of the VSMPO analytical department presented the information on trends in the development of the titanium market in Russia and abroad to their colleagues. The representatives of Research and Development Center of the Corporation shared the results of research in the field of titanium plate production, and also presented the results of the studies of the properties of titanium alloys.

Business negotiations of the representatives of Airbus company, VSMPO-AVISMA and Titanium Valley special economic zone on the establishment of production continued as part of the conference. The aircraft giant told about its projects in Russia and their development prospects.

Moreover, the conference program included several tours. In particular, the conference participants were shown production of titanium components by additive technology on 3D printers at the Regional Engineering Center affiliated with the Ural Federal University. Laser machining of titanium was shown to the titanium experts at the Regional Center for Laser Technologies. On the final day, the participants of the "Ti in the CIS" conference had the opportunity to visit the production site of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation in Verkhnaya Salda and familiarize themselves with the process of melting titanium ingots and further conversion and processing of the “flying” metal.
